Kiera Sheard

INFORMATION

Kierra Valencia “Kiki” Sheard-Kelly is an American gospel singer, songwriter, evangelist, actress, author, and entrepreneur best known for her powerful voice, dynamic worship music, and ministry rooted in faith and family legacy. She was born on June 20, 1987, in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in the nearby suburb of West Bloomfield surrounded by the influences of her family’s deep involvement in gospel music and Christian ministry. She is the daughter of acclaimed gospel artist Karen Clark Sheard of The Clark Sisters and Bishop J. Drew Sheard of the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, and the granddaughter of pioneering gospel choral director Mattie Moss Clark, giving her a rich musical heritage that shaped her from an early age.

Kierra began singing in her father’s church choir when she was just six years old, demonstrating a remarkable vocal gift that echoed the signature “Clark sound” of her family’s music. She made her first professional recording appearance at around age nine on her mother’s album Finally Karen, earning a Stellar Award for Best Children’s Performance for the track “The Will of God.” After years of singing background vocals for her mother, her aunts, and their legendary group, Sheard signed her first major recording contract and released her debut album I Owe You in 2004. The lead single from that album, “You Don’t Know,” was inspired by her mother’s near-fatal health crisis in 2001 and established Kierra as a rising voice in urban gospel music.

Over the following years, Sheard released a series of successful albums that blended gospel with contemporary R&B and worship influences, including This Is Me, Bold Right Life, Free, Graceland, Kierra, and All Yours. Her work has earned multiple Stellar Awards, Dove Awards, and Grammy Award nominations, and she has achieved numerous Billboard gospel chart successes, with her album Kierra debuting at number one on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.

Beyond music, Sheard has expanded her creative and ministerial reach into other areas. She portrayed her own mother in the hit Lifetime biographical film The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, which became one of the network’s highest-rated original movies. She is also a published author and launched the fashion line Eleven60 in honor of her mother, blending her artistic interests with business and personal expression. As an evangelist and licensed minister in the Church of God in Christ, she frequently integrates preaching and worship leadership into her performances and ministry engagements. In her personal life, Kierra married Jordan Kelly in 2020 and has continued to balance her roles as an artist, minister, and family woman, all while carrying forward the legacy of one of gospel music’s most influential families.
